The workers took off on Sunday but were back at it first thing this morning. Today they were working on all the plumbing which is quite extensive with the hot tub and waterfall. Here are the pictures from todays work.

Pool Day 1

Well they started on our pool yesterday and it looks pretty good except for the huge mess in my back yard. I'm the kind that like everything nice and neat, so this will be hard on me for the next few weeks as they tear up all my grass and rip up my sprinkler system. Here are a few pictures from the work that was completed

Summer Heat

Well I had the title to this post picked out this weekend when it hit 97 degrees. Today is actually very nice with a high at about 80 with a slight breeze. I went for a 7 mile run this evening and I'm starting to get back in the swing of things. I'm trying to run 2-3 times a week and I have been riding my spin bike 3 times a week. This has worked out pretty well since I'm keeping my cardiovascular fitness and keeping the pounding down on the legs.

So what have I been doing for the past month, planning a new pool. Below is a picture of what we will be getting in our backyard. We did the outdoor kitchen last year so the addition of the pool will give us a outdoor paradise.

Kids school gets out next week and we just wrapped up another year of soccer and t-ball so I will have more time to spend blogging.

Cooler Weather

Today was a perfect day to run. The storms we had yesterday brought with it some cooler temperatures and a nice easy northern breeze. I didn't get started untill around 10:30 and it was stillin the 50's. This is about as good as it gets for Texas in May! I wish I was in better running shape, then I would have run for hours but I cut it short and only ran for a little over 1. Oh well I just wanted to get my leg used to running again, something I only did once for the whole month of April.

I did ride my spin bike again this afternoon, so I biked for a little over 4 hours this week to go along with my hour run today. I know its not much but it is a start. I'll start increasing the running this week as I have less than three months untill El Scorcho.

High humidity

No running this past week as it seems like it has been raining or storming all week long. I was out of town on business 2 days this week as well so that didn't help either. I did ride my spin bike 3 times this week and my legs feel really strong. I've been working on eating better and loosing a little weight before getting out and doing some long runs. I'll probably split my time between running and cycling during the summer months just because the Texas heat isn't great for 4-5 days of running, at least not for me.

I will be hitting the road for a 10 miler in the morning, and the weather should be good. A strong storm just rolled through a few minutes ago and blew all the humidity away. It will probably return tomorrow afternoon but the morning should be nice.

Where does time go!

Is this really my 1st post in April? I had to take a little break from running, so I took a little break from blogging as well. I had been running and training for some kind of race for almost a year so I decided that I needed a break. My last run was on March 30th and I have only run once since then. I was actually going to get back in the running routine this past week but I had another injury that put the breaks on that. I hit the front on my knee really hard on the side of my dest last week sitting down in my chair. Don't ask me HOW I did that, because I really don't know. It didn't hurt very bad and didn't bother me at all the next day, but for some reason my knee was swelling quite a bit and I could feel the pressure at the end of the day. I have been icing it at night for the past 5 days and the it is just about back to normal so I'll probably get back to running this weekend.

Now on to what I have been doing for the past 3 1/2 weeks. I traded in my golf clubs for some new ones that are a little more forgiving. I don't play as much as I used to so I needed some irons that wouldn't be as penalizing as the ones I was playing. I also bought me a new driver and 3 wood, I needed the driver in a bad way since I broke the head of of my R7 driver last April while golfing in Nevada. I've played twice this month and played really well last weekend. I shot a 34 on the front nine(4-birdies, 2-bogeys, and 3 pars) then limped home in 42 for a nice 76. It was only the second time I had played this year so I was very satisfied with the score on such a windy day. I'm playing a gain on Sunday and if I play well again it may hurt my running opportunities this summer.

I've been eating everything in sight and my weight has ballooned up to 216, not what I wanted but I needed a break from running and I just went all out in the eating department. Tonight is my last bad meal before I start back on the running routine, it was a Wendy's doublemeat with cheese, and it wasn't even that good. I've spent the past few weeks eating so much that I'm starting to get sick of food, if that is even possible.

In the past 3 weeks I have also been reading at night to fill the void of not running. My wife finally convinced me to start reading the Twilight series, (The one's about the vampires and werewolves) and I must say that I am hooked. I've been staying up way too late reading these books, but I just can't put them down. Right now I just started the the third in the series and it just gets more and more interesting. I must say that it is better intertainment tha reading "Fixing Your Feet"!

I was also able to meet a fellow blogger Stacey, she was in Dallas for the week and we were able to meet for lunch. I think she wasthe one that brought the heat wave with her from Canada!! Probably not but it did get up to 96 degrees this week so she got to experience a little Texas heat.

Well that pretty much covers my last 3 weeks, so now I need to get back to running and blogging. The only race I have scheduled for the rest of 2009 is El Schorcho 50k in July, so I will have to wait and see what looks like fun.
