Is this really my 1st post in April? I had to take a little break from running, so I took a little break from blogging as well. I had been running and training for some kind of race for almost a year so I decided that I needed a break. My last run was on March 30th and I have only run once since then. I was actually going to get back in the running routine this past week but I had another injury that put the breaks on that. I hit the front on my knee really hard on the side of my dest last week sitting down in my chair. Don't ask me HOW I did that, because I really don't know. It didn't hurt very bad and didn't bother me at all the next day, but for some reason my knee was swelling quite a bit and I could feel the pressure at the end of the day. I have been icing it at night for the past 5 days and the it is just about back to normal so I'll probably get back to running this weekend.
Now on to what I have been doing for the past 3 1/2 weeks. I traded in my golf clubs for some new ones that are a little more forgiving. I don't play as much as I used to so I needed some irons that wouldn't be as penalizing as the ones I was playing. I also bought me a new driver and 3 wood, I needed the driver in a bad way since I broke the head of of my R7 driver last April while golfing in Nevada. I've played twice this month and played really well last weekend. I shot a 34 on the front nine(4-birdies, 2-bogeys, and 3 pars) then limped home in 42 for a nice 76. It was only the second time I had played this year so I was very satisfied with the score on such a windy day. I'm playing a gain on Sunday and if I play well again it may hurt my running opportunities this summer.
I've been eating everything in sight and my weight has ballooned up to 216, not what I wanted but I needed a break from running and I just went all out in the eating department. Tonight is my last bad meal before I start back on the running routine, it was a Wendy's doublemeat with cheese, and it wasn't even that good. I've spent the past few weeks eating so much that I'm starting to get sick of food, if that is even possible.
In the past 3 weeks I have also been reading at night to fill the void of not running. My wife finally convinced me to start reading the Twilight series, (The one's about the vampires and werewolves) and I must say that I am hooked. I've been staying up way too late reading these books, but I just can't put them down. Right now I just started the the third in the series and it just gets more and more interesting. I must say that it is better intertainment tha reading "Fixing Your Feet"!
I was also able to meet a fellow blogger
Stacey, she was in Dallas for the week and we were able to meet for lunch. I think she wasthe one that brought the heat wave with her from Canada!! Probably not but it did get up to 96 degrees this week so she got to experience a little Texas heat.
Well that pretty much covers my last 3 weeks, so now I need to get back to running and blogging. The only race I have scheduled for the rest of 2009 is El Schorcho 50k in July, so I will have to wait and see what looks like fun.
